31 Day Blog Challenge--Day 2

Engineering Marvels

Today's prompt asks for our favorite quote. I'm going to give you two. : )

"Everything is vague to a degree you do not realize till you have tried to make it precise."
-Bertrand Russell

This is the essence of what I do at work. Make things precise, defined, organized, orderly. It's a strength of mine and a key part of engineering. In order to solve a problem, you must first understand the problem intimately. And that understanding comes in layers, so you are always making precise, only to discover just how vague it still is.

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?"
-Mary Oliver

This is a question that speaks to my soul. What do I plan to do? With the wild, unpredictable, unharness-able vitality of life and happenstance and seizing opportunities. This reminds me to live, to act on impulse, embrace serendipity.
