CSA--Weeks 7 and 8

With things a bit nutty at work right now, week 7 slipped by before I could post it. So before we pick up week 9's box tomorrow, here is a recap of weeks 7 and 8.

Week 7:

CSA--Week 7

Eggplant, zucchini, beets, and a shot of our bea-u-tiful box.

CSA--Week 7

Perfectly ripe tomatoes, corn, an onion, and a green pepper.

CSA--Week 7

Green beans, peaches, cucumbers, and a group shot of all the color these later boxes are starting to have.

Week 8:

CSA--Week 8

Obligatory box shot, red potatoes, green pepper, onion.

CSA--Week 8

Eggplant, blueberries, corn, cucumber.

And can we take just a moment here to take a really good look at these tomatoes?

Birthday Bowls

Absolutely dreamy. One of my favorite pieces of produce, these are wonderfully ripe and delicious. And abundant, we had 5 in our box this week. : D

One thing about the CSA that can be tough is deciding what to make. Not just because some of the ingredients are unfamiliar, but because when I only have enough for a single dish, I feel like it has to be something really special. The problem is produce doesn't wait for perfection and so things can spoil while I'm waiting to find that just right recipe. I'm going to try to be more impulsive with the coming boxes and also to embrace simplicity. It's okay to just make a salad. It's not a cop out to enjoy veggies in their natural state instead of trying to find the penultimate recipe.
