Home for the Holidays

Home

In two and a half hours, I'll be crawling out of bed at an ungodly hour. The hubby will already be up (opting not to crawl into bed at all) and we will feed and love the cats, use and then pack the remaining toiletries, eat, and pile in the car. In three and a half hours we will hit up the ATM and cruise down the highway, no doubt joined by others up before the sun. In six hours, provided the stars are aligned, we will be taking off, headed west. Headed home. In 13 hours, we will be touching down in LA, fussing with luggage, finding my father. In 15 hours (baring delays, outages, misadventures, etc) we will be home. Checking out the tree. Furtively wrapping presents. Meeting my brother's new girlfriend. Scrambling to pull together Christmas Eve dinner (tradition dictates that the kids pick/cook it--we have nothing).

The next four days will be spent in a whirlwind of family, food, and far too little sleep. Vacation has begun and we plan to seize every moment. I'll be back next week with lots of photos and memories to share. Until then, I wish everyone the same love, warmth, and depth of chocolate waiting for us in California.
