WOOT!

So in lieu of searching high and low for those cello bags or trying out new table setups or prepping bags or, you know, anything I *should* have been doing, I took some time tonight and drew two new dragonling ACEOS.

It is taking all of my willpower not to list both rightthissecond, because I *adore* them both, BUT! I am being patient...and only listing one. : D

First, a glimpse...

My Palette is my Own

And some background...

All through my art classes, I have ALWAYS come back to text in art to express myself. There is something incredibly therapeutic about words and colors blending together. My words tend to be very stream of consciousness and I adore journal style works, where the text is so thick that it *almost* becomes just a background element--but it is conveying a powerful message.

Then, the full thing...

My Palette is my Own

And my thoughts on this piece...

This piece is an expression of the power of art. How it can help us heal ourselves though introspection, self-discovery, and a tangible sense of worth. This dragonling is left without color. This speaks to several things:

1. The way that art is healing to those of all races, genders, classes, ages, and styles.
2. The idea of the self being immersed in a rich inner world that those exterior to you cannot see or experience
3. The "blank canvas" that we all are/can become in inventing or reinventing ourselves. Our past refines us, but it doesn't have to define us.
4. The fact that the "blank" outerself is what first draws the viewer's attention despite the richness of color surrounding the figure. (This relates to our own narrow vision, often focusing solely on our deficiencies and ignoring our many gifts as well as how other people's perceptions can be in complete dissodance with our inner self.)

Needless to say, this is a very personal piece for me. However, given the many, many conversations I have had with others about the Imposter Syndrome", I think it is also a highly relatable piece.

If this doesn't sell, I will be sorely tempted to frame it for my own craft room.
