Bookmarks and the Great Migration

Today I took a trip up to visit my mother. It was supposed to be a relaxing time to work on some new flower sculptures for my shop. Instead, we accidentally spent all day in our local crafts superstore. Whoops! ; ) Hard to feel too badly about that though.

I managed to pick up all the materials needed for me start in on bookmarks. Bookmarks are something I've been wanting to offer since I first opened up shop, but there were a few snags along the way with finding materials, inspiration, and the other varied and assorted bits needed. Recently however, I joined the Visual Artists Street Team through etsy. They try to have challenges to encourage us all to expand and branch out--to artistically stretch ourselves and have fun doing it. This month's challenge is to make 3 bookmarks for our shop and one for the VAST shop on etsy. That provided enough of a swift kick in the rear for me to get started. (Well that and the fortuitous trip to the craft store. ; ) So...bookmarks coming before (US) Thanksgiving on the 23rd!

In other news, I played in the "sandbox" version of the full etsy site last night and I am *very* excited. My favorite new toy is the addition of categories to the shops--it just makes it MUCH easier to browse through a shop. However, the bundle of new features is impressive. I can't wait for it to go live on Monday so I can play for real!

Speaking of the new etsy site, the data migration has begun! Etsy is down, although you can still visit the web page to see updates from the engineers. Crossing my fingers that all goes well and sending lots of luck (and caffeine) to the etsy staff.
