A Pocket-full of Love

Whew! This weekend, I wore myself out going on a listing spree in order to get a bunch of new items in my shop. The FAE street team is having a "Storybook Romance" Exhibition and the items have to be up in your shop. Ek!

It wasn't until I started trying to pick items for the exhibition that I realized that I like books and I like love. Like, a lot. Like, I could make a good argument for the majority of my dragonlings.

I am way too pleased with this batch of mirrors. Every time I list one, I think "Oooh, this one is my favorite!". So to keep this post manageable, I'll just pick one (for today) to talk about.

This one is titled "This Everyday Life". It shows a dragonling family. The adults are looking at each other a smiling, the older kid is showing off their newest creation, and the baby is happily cooing along.

This is probably going to sound really corny but that, right there, is what love is all about to me. No, not the idea of 2.5 kids, a dog, and a house. The idea of finding contentment and joy in the little things. The everyday things. In knowing looks or inside jokes.

To me the magic of marriage is in how deeply you get to know someone. When you first meet, you don't know anything about them and so you talk and talk and talk. And at some point, you start having to ask less because you already know that they want their sandwich toasted with mustard, two pieces of cheese, a little bit of lettuce, and extra meat. And then you stick around even longer, and you learn more. And almost before you know it, you are having whole conversations comprised of half sentences and looks. That's a whole new level of comfort and love. And that's the kind of love I was thinking of when I drew this.
