Books!

August 3, 2012

Between the library books I had to finish, a short dip into my own bookcase, and the sewing I've been trying to get done, I let a few weeks go by without picking up more library books. This week though I came back with a vengeance.

I hadn't quite realized that both The Time Traveler's Wife and American Gods were such tomes but The Time Traveler's Wife was so absorbing that I finished it in just over 2 days. (And yes, there was crying). The BFG is a favorite book from my childhood and it was a quick re-read on Friday. I'm looking forward to American Gods as it's been strongly recommended by one of my friends.

In addition to checking out some books, this weekend was the Friends of the Library book sale. All books for $0.25! : ) I was good and only bought things that (a) I had read and knew I wanted to own or (b) I knew the library did not have available to check out.

First Break All the Rules was a recent read but one I didn't want to take back, so I happily pounced on it. Critical Conversations has been on my to-read list for several years. The Art of Innovation is one I've been aware of for years this seemed like a good opportunity to read it. The audio book was a spontaneous purchase. I'd listened to a Ted Talk by Madeleine Albright and she was a lovely speaker. I've been looking for things to listen to while I hand sew and with a whole quilt to hand quilt in front of me... $0.25 seemed like more than a fair bargain for 6.5 hours of no fuss sewing accompaniment. : )

  1. American Gods is one of my favorite Gaiman books (I also have a fangirl obsession with Stardust) - I re-read it frequently....

  2. Thanks for the recommendation Amanda! I've only read Good Omens and The Graveyard Book so I have a lot of catching up to do. : )

Love Neil! I got to see him at a book tour for the 10th anniversary of American Gods. I love that book but Gonzo just read it and he didn't really like it but what do husbands know. I hope you like it!
